Flooded Remains / by Joe Aguirre

At night I risk you in my sleep

The lonely winter moon keeps me awake

With the glowing memory of your face

It seems now, that lately, my dreams are the only part of you I carry

I'm wading, chest deep in this river I keep alive

With these tears, I cry for you

A tributary, I made just for you

A few drops, a flood, no warmth, despite this blood

Foolishly I cross the divide

To lay at your feet

As you open your mouth, to scream about

The flood from inside my head
